When I first saw a photo of D.O., my impression was that he had a boyish image and seemed more like an actor than an idol. His real name is Doh Kyung-soo, and he was born on January 12, 1993, in Korea. It is speculated that he chose the stage name D.O. by taking the first and last letters of his name in English.

 

 

 

He stands at 172 cm tall, weighs 65 kg, appears to have an average build, wears a shoe size of 265 mm, and has blood type A. D.O. has an older brother who is three years older than him, and he has two dogs named '먹물' (Meokmul) and '후추' (Huchu). He is a member of EXO-K and serves as the main vocalist. Additionally, on July 26, 2021, he made his debut as a solo artist. He follows the Protestant religion and completed his military service in the Army on January 25, 2021.

 

It is said that D.O. is a quiet person who doesn't talk much and prefers to listen to the other members. People find him cute, but when he hears that, he becomes shy and feels that he is far from being cute. He is known for his humility and perfectionist nature, which makes him particularly shy when receiving compliments.

 

 

Being a perfectionist, he gives his best effort in both his work and assigned roles, rarely missing EXO's activities even while pursuing his acting career. EXO is a group that often goes on international tours even during their downtime, and D.O. usually participates despite his acting commitments. During the filming of his first movie, the director was unaware of the group EXO and assumed that D.O. was a new actor. In essence, he was selected based on his abilities through an audition, and many people believed he was a rookie actor.

 

 

Since then, D.O. has received rave reviews for his acting skills, and in 2015, he was selected as the most promising actor among idols by 100 critics. In 2017, he starred in the movie <신과 함께> (Along with the Gods), which became a big hit in Korea. Having seen the movie myself, I was curious about the character D.O. portrayed, so I did some research and immediately recognized him. At that time, I had no knowledge of EXO, so I thought D.O., with his actor-like image, was an actor I didn't know.

 

 

D.O. achieved great success in the <신과 함께> series and demonstrated his endless potential by delivering an exceptional performance in his first drama. Moreover, he recently won the Popularity Award, Best Couple Award, and Grand Prize simultaneously at the KBS Acting Awards in late 2022. Although I don't watch TV dramas, it's clear that he is a truly remarkable member who has excelled in two different fields.

 

 

When people think of D.O.'s face, the first things that come to mind are his big, clear eyes and heart-shaped lips when he smiles. Additionally, his thick eyebrows, high nose bridge, and sharp jaw are considered attractive features.

 

Contrary to his pure boy image, he can portray characters with somewhat cynical eyes and can create various atmospheres through his facial expressions and hairstyles, making him a sought-after actor in the film industry. As evidence of his versatility, the roles he has played so far have been very diverse.

 

 

In EXO, D.O. serves as the group's lead vocalist, showcasing a lovely deep voice and handling almost half of the intros for every song on every album. He is an outstanding vocalist with a remarkable sense of rhythm and technique, skillfully adapting his singing style to suit each song. While he is regarded as a specialized R&B vocalist, he can sing in various styles beyond R&B. Additionally, despite having a deep voice, he remains stable even in the high notes, demonstrating his prowess in handling the high tones in many songs.

 

 

Particularly, when singing songs in various foreign languages such as English, Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish, D.O. showcases excellent pronunciation, earning him high praise from fans and critics alike. One performance that garnered significant attention was his rendition of 'Sabor a mi,' which he sang exclusively for Mexican fans at 'Music Bank in Mexico' in 2014, earning praise from foreign fans.

 

 

Upon watching the video, I was immediately amazed by Chanyeol's guitar skills and genuinely impressed by D.O.'s vocal abilities and his proficiency in singing songs in Spanish.

 

 

Considering the video was from 2014, it's safe to assume that his vocal skills have only improved since then, especially as he balanced his military service with his acting career, showcasing his remarkable talent.

 

Following the departure of Chinese members, D.O. stepped up and sang various parts in Chinese on behalf of the EXO-M members. His versatility extends to pop songs, which he enjoys singing, and his performances of pop songs always elicit explosive reactions from fans, reflecting his wealth of experience in this genre.

 

 

His first solo album was released on July 26, 2021, containing not only English versions of songs but also a Spanish version called 'Si Fueras Mía.' For those interested, it's worth giving it a listen.

It is said that D.O. is also a skilled dancer with a smooth style and a keen sense of rhythm. He can express intricate details in his movements, creating a visually appealing silhouette.

Before his debut, during high school, D.O. worked part-time at a steakhouse to fund his vocal academy expenses. As a trainee at SM Entertainment, he kept his status hidden as he disliked being recognized, which is reflective of his mentioned personality traits.

 

D.O. is known for his love of good food and has expressed a desire to visit all the Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. Additionally, he holds a Korean Cooking Technician license. He is also passionate about perfume, often recommending and giving suitable perfumes to his classmates, and has expressed interest in creating his own fragrances. Black is his preferred color, and according to Chanyeol, D.O.'s wardrobe is full of black attire.

 

 

D.O. has a lovely deep voice, but he often surprises people with his ability to sing much higher than expected. Many consider his voice to be one of his charming traits, a sentiment that he shares as well.

 

One of his specialties is beatboxing, and he used to rap during his high school performances. On the other hand, D.O. is regarded as the member with the least interest in fashion within EXO, while Chanyeol is seen as the most fashionable. Despite this difference, Chanyeol and D.O. have been close friends since before their debut and share many cherished memories together. They often refer to each other as friends and soul mates.

 

 

Moreover, D.O. has built strong relationships with renowned actors such as Zo In-sung, Song Joong-ki, and Kim Woo-bin, reflecting his success as an actor. Interestingly, among his fans, he is rarely called by his stage name "D.O.," but rather by the nickname "됴" (Dyo) or his real name, Kyungsoo.

 

In contrast to other celebrities who may apply for special positions like military bands, D.O. chose to serve as a cook, leveraging his hobby and culinary skills during his military service.
