His real name is Kim Jongdae, and he was born on September 21, 1992, in Korea. He is 172.5 cm tall, weighs 61 kg, and has blood type B. Surprisingly, he has an older brother who is 2 years older than him, and he got married in 2020, already having two daughters.

 

 

He follows the Catholic religion and completed his military service in the Army on April 25, 2022. Like Xiumin, he is a Korean member of EXO-M and EXO-CBX, holding the position of lead vocalist. He made his solo debut on April 1, 2019.

Chen is known for having a very lively personality, similar to Chanyeol and Baekhyun. Xiumin, being his roommate during their time in EXO-M, considers Chen as his younger brother, greatly appreciating his kindness and rigorous professionalism. Other members also praise Chen for his good nature.

 

 

He debuted after an 11-month training period, just like Baekhyun, and was recruited into SM Entertainment based on a teacher's recommendation from a practical music academy. He and Baekhyun passed the final audition together.

 

 

Chen reportedly volunteered to join EXO-M because of his close relationship with the Chinese members. However, fans speculate that there may have been internal circumstances within the agency influencing this decision. The most credible theory is that Chen's vocal position, symmetrical with Baekhyun's, fits well within EXO-M.

 

 

Chen's voice harmonizes well with D.O., whose strength lies in tone and rhythm, and Baekhyun, known for his powerful voice. He is considered the most reliable member in the group for hitting high notes and boasts a wide vocal range, which allows him to handle many parts.
