아까 앞서 말씀 드렸듯이, 황금빛 순간을 모티브로 삼았는데요. 방탄소년단의 ‘황금 막내’라고 불리던 그런 시절부터 제 이름으로 나오는 첫 솔로까지 그 앨범이 완성되기까지의 정말 수많은 여정, 수많은 시간들과 수많은 경험들이 저를 만들었다고 생각합니다. 그래서 지금의 저를 가장 잘 보여줄 수 있는 것들이 이번 앨범에 담고 싶었고, 앨범 이름 또한 같은 이유에서 <GOLDEN>으로 정하게 되었습니다.

As I mentioned earlier, I took golden moments in my life as the motif. From my days as BTS's 'golden maknae' to my first solo album with my name, <GOLDEN>, this album represents a long journey and many experiences that have shaped me. 이 곡을 언제 들었냐면 이제 Andrew랑 ‘Seven’ 녹음을 같이 진행을 하고 녹음을 마친 상태에서 Andrew가 또 “나 이런 곡 있어” 하면서 들려 줬는데 딱 듣자마자 곡이 먼저 확 끌렸다 라기 보다 그냥 그 곡을 들었을 때 뭔가 웅장함이 있었고, 그리고 그 곡을 내가 하는, 퍼포먼스를 하는 그때는 아무도 나와 있었던 것도 아니고 그런데, 뭔가 무대 위에서 하면 정말 멋있겠다 혹은 그런 그림들이 그려졌던 것 같아요. 그래서 이번 골든 타이틀에 굉장히 적합하지 않았나 싶습니다.

I heard 'Standing Next to You' when I was working on the recording for 'Seven' with Andrew. He played me the song after we finished recording 'Seven.' I wouldn't say it immediately grabbed me, but there was a grandeur to the song. When I listened to it, I imagined it would be amazing to perform on stage. So, this song was a perfect fit for the title <GOLDEN>.

이번 앨범에 정말 많은 분들이 참여를 해주셨는데, 뭐 사실 곡은 이렇게 바뀌는데 에드 시런이나 아니면 숀 멘데스나 이렇게 좀 직접 만날 기회는 없었어요. 그래서 굉장히 아쉽고, 그래도 다른 프로듀서 분들과는 이렇게 좀 소통도 하고 녹음하는 과정 안에서도 계속 영상통화를 한다든지 그런 식으로 소통하면서 작업을 진행했습니다. 다음에 기회가 되면 꼭 만나고 싶습니다.

Although musicians like Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes were involved in this album, I didn't actually get a chance to meet them in person. So it was a bit disappointing, but I worked closely with other producers through video calls and conversations. If the opportunity arises, I would definitely like to meet them in person in the future.

음.. 개인적으로 저는 인터뷰에서도 몇 번 얘기를 했는데 ‘다양한 장르를 소화하는 그런 가수가 되고 싶다’ 그런 얘기를 했었고, 저만이 낼 수 있는, 뭐 제 목소리는 제 거긴 한데, 저만이 좀 소화해 낼 수 있는 그런 사운드나 결과물을 만들고 싶었던 것 같아요.

Well, personally, I mentioned several times in the interview that I wanted to be a singer who could encompass various genres. I wanted to create a sound or outcome that only I could offer, even though, of course, my voice is just mine.

So during the preparation process for this album, I received many songs and listened to them all. I asked myself, "In which genre do I excel?" and "Which genre would I like to challenge?" I also thought about where I might be lacking and selected the songs while imagining how I would look on stage to showcase a cool aspect of myself.

Of course, all the songs have a special place in my heart, and I like them all. But, excluding the title track, one of the songs on the album that I feel more attached to is 'Hate You.' It's a song that fits very well with the current season, and I think many people will enjoy it. So I have expectations for it. In summary, all the songs are good for me.

이번 앨범은 해외 음악 시장을 목표로 준비한 앨범인 만큼 전체적으로 다 영어곡을 선택을 했고요. 녹음을 하면서 발음이 많이 어렵긴 했습니다. 어렵긴 했지만, 고생은 했지만, 그래도 결과적으로 전곡이 잘 나온 거 같아서 너무 다행이고, 음악적으로 언제나 도전하고 싶고, 또 다양한 모습을 보여 드리기 위해 다각도로 고민하고 있습니다. 그리고 한국어 노래도 빨리 기회가 돼서 선물 해 드리고 싶으니까 앞으로도 기대 많이 해 주시면 감사하겠습니다.

This album was prepared with the goal of entering the international music market, so I chose English songs entirely. It was a challenge because pronunciation was difficult on many occasions. Despite the difficulties, I'm grateful that all the songs turned out well. I always want to challenge myself in terms of music and showcase different facets, so I'm considering multiple options. Also, I would like to gift you songs in Korean in the future, so please look forward to it.

While recording and working on this album, I felt like I was exploring new facets of myself. However, I also experienced moments where I realized my shortcomings and areas where I need to improve. It was an opportunity for self-reflection and personal growth.

근데 그 중에 뭐 장점이라면, 아직까지 부족한데, 그래도 다양한 곡을 불렀을 때 ‘위화감이 조금 적지 않나’, ‘어울리는 면이 많지 않나’라는 그런 목소리를 가지고 있는 게 장점이 아닐까 싶습니다.

Although I still feel I have many shortcomings, I consider one of my strengths to be that, despite my limitations, I can offer a variety of musical genres and adapt to different songs.
